The Bronx is Coming Back...

Although I did go to college in the Bronx and lived
here for a very short period of time as an infant, I
haven't considered myself a true "Bronxite" until
recently. I moved here because it's the only cheap
part of New York City left and because I can't stand
commuting to work.
The Bronx is a unique part of New York City with its
Art Deco buildings, green spaces, Little Italy, and
Latin flavor. We have one of the best zoos in the
world, THE New York Botanical Garden, the second best
Italian restaurant in all of New York City, the home
of Edgar Allan Poe, and now a refurbished traditional
turn-of-the-century movie theater. The Loews Paradise
Theater has been called the most beautiful movie
theater in the world. I haven't had a chance to see
the inside yet, but the outside looks fantastic. It
won't be hosting movies anymore, but it will have lots
of live entertainment. Check it out here:

And don't forget the up-and-coming SOBRO area. The
Fulton Fish Market closed down in the South Street
Seaport and moved to Hunts Point up here in the Bronx
this summer. Now the artists and 20-somethings are
moving in too. I believe the Bronx is coming back...

A Gay Mayor in Republican's Clothing

So yesterday was Election Day and I voted on my way to
work. I had planned on going to vote on my lunch
break, but decided it may be too crowded. I took a
chance that it would be less crowded in the morning
and I was right. I woke up at 8:15, showered, dressed,
voted and was still at work by 9am! I can never work
far away from where I live. The benefits of walking to
work are just too good.
So Michael Bloomberg is mayor of NYC once again and
Jon Corzine is the governor of NJ. Hopefully we will
take back the federal government next year...

So today I moved my old blog into blogger...I like the
formatting of this site, but for some reason I've been
having trouble logging in.
